The specifications of the pumps are determined by the nature, flow rate and pressure of the transported liquid, and the speed of the pumps is determined by the viscosity and corrosiveness of the transported liquid as the main parameters to ensure the reliable operation of the pumps.
The design speed of the pump is the maximum allowable speed when transporting non-corrosive liquids similar to clear water or clean water. In practical use, due to the different requirements of medium properties and service life, the selection speed should generally be lower than the design speed. For high viscosity and granular media, the design speed is usually 1/2-1/3 or lower. Low speed is beneficial to the wear of the pump. However, due to the decrease of the wear flow rate of the stator after use, the speed can be properly increased to compensate for the decrease of the flow rate.
Downhole single screw pump has been used in petroleum industry for more than 20 years as a practical production machinery. In 1986, Daqing Oilfield introduced screw pump from Griffin Company of Canada for trial use in oilfield. Since then, domestic manufacturers have started to develop downhole production screw pump systematically. The structure of screw pump is very simple. It is especially suitable for oil wells with high viscosity and sand content, and has high working efficiency.
A petroleum company has carried out oil recovery tests under the same conditions in water drive oil wells with screw pump, electric submersible centrifugal pump and sucker rod pump pumping systems. The test results show that the efficiency of the three oil production systems are 63.4%, 52.4% and 50.4% respectively, and the efficiency of the screw pump oil production system is high. In addition, the equipment investment cost of screw pump production system is 20% to 30% lower than that of the other two kinds of production equipment.
